Kentucky Derby Hats by Dress Elea!

Got your derby hat yet? If not, take a look at our Dress Elea Derby Hats on Facebook.  If you like, place your order by emailing info@dresselea.com. We are offering express delivery, to ensure that you look good with Mint Julep in hand by this Saturday!

According to the official Derby Website, The Derby is not just about horse racing…

In the Clubhouse and Paddock, women of grace and taste sport classy, fashionable styles. In the infield, you will see many homemade hats that are more comical. Or, as Hunter S. Thompson might say, freakish.

Here are some fancy and homemade styles we like:

10 Most Fashionable Films List: Times of London

With a major style moment about to hit when “Sex and the City 2” opens in May, The Times of London decided to recount what it considers the 25 most influential flicks in fashion. And while we don’t agree with all of them (“Avatar” made it, but “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” didn’t? Wha?), it’s definitely a great start for building your Netflix queue.

Below, the top 10 fashion films and a brief description of The Times’s reasoning.

1. West Side Story (1961), because of Christian Dior‘s 1950s era post-war “New Look” silhouettes worn by Maria.

2. Belle de Jour (1967), because of Catherine Denueve‘sYSL wardrobe.

3. The Big Sleep (1946), because of Lauren Becall‘s sharp-shouldered jackets, artfully tilted hats, and pinned-back hairstyle.

Alternate place to shop Part II

Now that you are savvy on shopping at Farmers Markets; what about this alternate place to shop:  online?  Talk about the ultimate convenience! Have you ever been stopped dead in your tracks when the perfect outfit popped into your head? When you have access to the internet you can turn that dream outfit into reality in about 2.5 mins with a couple clicks of the mouse! Not to mention how fun is it to get something in the mail? You order your goods, which is exhilarating, THEN in a matter of days the UPS guy drops off a package and its like Christmas morning all over again! You rip open the box and immediately show off your new outfit! Oh I get so excited at even the thought of it!!  Plus If you are ever concerned about your item not fitting, almost all online stores have a friendly no hassle return policy. (including ours at Dress Elea!).  Done and Done! It’s so easy.

So Hopefully by now you are excited about NOT having to go the mall and are proud of yourself for thinking outside of the mall box and ready to explore new shopping ground!!

Check out some of our gear at www.dresselea.com for examples of what dresses, sun dresses, tunics, coverups, floppy hats, and belts to buy online for your spring and summer of 2010!

Alternate Places to Shop

When you think of shopping you think of a few things: fresh new digs and accessories, being waited on as you peruse the racks, and getting the latest trend before your friends do…..then all the sudden this pops into your head crowds, and parking, out of stocks…and that’s when you you remember how much going to the mall sucks!  Well calm down, we happen to have a solution for you. Have you ever been to your local Farmers Market? If not, they are a great place to pick up your Organic Fruits and Veggies, flowers, as well as try out the local fair. Its a fabulous place to take your family and friends. What most people don’t realize is you can buy more then food at the Farmer’s. They actually have a ton of arts & crafts, jewelry, and CLOTHES!! Yes clothes!! The best part is the clothes are generally cheaper then the Mall and just as cute! Elea happens do be at the La Jolla Farmers Market (San Diego) every sunday! You can stop by the store and talk with Elea herself :) ! Plus we always debut the new items at the Farmers BEFORE they go online, so you get first dibs on the new digs!!  ShoppyChic.com is one of our fav vendors. Miss Jen, who I call the “bag lady” has amazing recycled shopping bags that are to die for. So make sure you stop by her store first to grab a bag for all your new goods!
So avoid the dreaded mall this weekend and hit up your local Farmer’s Market! If you need help locating a farmers market in your area, please email us at info@dresselea.com and we will help you find one! As always Happy Shopping!!
